Purgatory Road Race

June 12, 2012

I decided it was time to combine two of my passions together, cycling and photography.  Now I'm sure there are many folks who ride and take photos along the way, but yesterday I was on the sidelines soaking in lots of sun and watching the Purgatory Road Race in Sutton, MA.  (Yes, there are signs that point the way to Purgatory) This was my first time attending a race and while I watch some of the major cycling events on TV, there is nothing like experiencing the real thing.

This may be a small event compared to the Tour de France, but the people running and participating in the event are very passionate about what they do.  This came through very clearly as I watched each category of races for both men and women. I have yet to take part in a race event such as this, but attending yesterday's race pushed me a bit closer to joining the fray.

But until then, enjoy a few samples of the images captured yesterday. Photographing cycling is just like riding in some ways, if you want to get better then you will have to practice.  I will be attending more events in the future to really capture more of my favorite sport.
